The Oscar-winning American actor, Rami Malek, has refused to play role of an Arabic-speaking terrorist in James Bond’s next film.
Malek, with an Egyptian roots, said he insisted on getting assurances that the character he would play in the film would not be an “Arab terrorist”
and that he had thought long before accepting his new role.
In an interview with the British newspaper Mirror,
Malek said he needed to get assurances from American director carrie Fukunaga about his future role
and that the role wouldn’t be an Arab terrorist.
saying he would never play an Arab terrorist role.
“My role in the film is wonderful, and I am very excited about his performance, but that is something I discuss with Carrie,” he said.
“I told him that we can’t link a person to any terrorist act that reflects ideology or religion. The reason, I withdraw. “
“It seems clear that this is not the vision of the director, so the character I will represent is a terrorist of a different kind.”
Rami Malek plays the role of the main villain in the new Bond film, in which Daniel Craig returns to portray the character of “Client 007”.
The film will be screening in April 2020.
