“The Remaining of You” to Represent Jordan at the 2026 Oscars

“The Remaining of You,” written and directed by Cherien Dabis, has been selected to officially represent Jordan at the 98th Academy Awards (Oscars) in the Best International Feature Film category for 2026.

The Royal Film Commission – Jordan (RFC) announced that the film was selected in accordance with official criteria, following a vote by a six-member jury to select the film that will represent Jordan in this category.
“The Remaining of You” stars a group of prominent Palestinian and Arab actors, including Saleh Bakri, Adam Bakri, Mohammed Bakri, and Maria Zreik, in addition to the director Cherien Dabis herself.
The film was shot entirely in Jordan, between the capital, Amman, and Balqa Governorate, over a period of six weeks, and received a grant from the Royal Commission for Jordan’s Film Production Incentives Program.
The film revolves around a Palestinian teenager who finds himself amidst protests in the West Bank, while his mother recounts the family’s story spanning decades since the Nakba in 1948, with its sacrifices, hopes, and ongoing resistance to this day.

“What’s Left of You” was nominated following its participation at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, where it went on to win several awards at international festivals.
