Lena successfully delivered Pim as envisioned in the original novel: harsh, quick to judge, hasty in assumption, and largely uninterested in hearing challenges to her preconceived conclusions. Pim will always remain Pim. Her sleek professional wardrobe reinforced this identity, lending her an executive presence aligning with the authority and control Lena brings to her performance. While costumes helped shape Pim, Lena appearing in a swimsuit from the opening moments proves the design team understands their audience completely.
Regarding the soundtrack, a clever nod to the leads’ fanbase was the inclusion of music from their previous series ‘My safe zone’ during a beach scene with a live band. The rest of the score balanced vitality and a catchy rhythm, leaving a refreshing breeze intentionally harmonized with the scene events. Although Thai productions sometimes recycle familiar tracks and we encountered a previously heard piece, this time it was accompanied by lyrics, so we will let it slide. Overall, this variety lent a special energy distinguishing the episode.
The fourth success—serving as the initial hook locking viewers into Pls Love right from the premiere—was the series’ ability to introduce characters clearly and adequately enough to comprehend future events. This foundation served everyone well and spared the audience any guessing games or confusion, especially given that the protagonist Pim is the most complex figure, abruptly shifting from a gentle, dreamy, sweet woman into a fierce, violent, ruthless beast throwing relentless punches in unprovoked rage. The series explained Pim’s primary motivations with balance while preserving ample space for future discoveries. Despite the premiere’s loud and undeniable success, what soured the experience was a major, unforgivable directorial blunder during the leads’ lengthy intimacy scene. Standard practice dictates that cameras must move cautiously to avoid exposing the modesty garments actresses typically wear forward during intimate shoots—garments covering only the private parts while leaving the rest of the body exposed. Globally, intimacy choreography dictates that camera movement stays strictly above or below the borders of these protective garments so they never appear on screen, preserving the illusion that the characters are nude.
Responsibility falls entirely on the director, Patchanee Jaruchinda, who previously directed ‘My safe zone’ for the same leading duo. She appears to be a hardworking director, but not sharp enough to dodge a fatal error at the heart of the drama.
A director must recognize that the entertainment industry relies three-quarters on suggestion and convincing viewers of what we want them to see and feel. When elements like modesty garments are meant to stay behind the scenes, viewers must never spot them in the final cut; otherwise, immersion shatters, credibility falters, and audience loyalty fractures. Intimate scenes require productions to balance actor safety with final screen output, utilizing lighting, framing, camera angles, and editing to preserve both. It appears the director was asleep in the editing room.
