The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi is hosting the “Expert Induction Modules for Sharing Strategic Knowledge,” a series of specialized seminars and workshops in the field of cultural heritage, seeking to promote an integrated approach and a unified strategy for protecting and enhancing cultural and natural heritage shared by various sectors. The seminar series builds on the first International Forum on Cultural Heritage and Knowledge Development, which the Department organized last May.
Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, said: “We believe that protecting our heritage is not the responsibility of a single entity or individual, but rather a shared task that requires cooperation, knowledge sharing, and teamwork. Based on the outcomes of the first International Forum on Cultural Heritage and Knowledge Development, we affirm our continued efforts to preserve our past by enhancing the skills of the workforce in the culture sector. Through these seminars and workshops, we provide workers in various relevant sectors with the modern tools and future-oriented visions necessary to protect our identity, our sites, and our traditions.”
The program consists of four introductory modules: Protecting Cultural and Natural Heritage Sites, Safeguarding Intangible Cultural Heritage, Protecting Underwater Cultural Heritage, and Protecting and Promoting the Diversity of Cultural Expressions (Cultural Industries).
Each introductory module will run over four consecutive days, including an intensive two-day seminar focused on knowledge sharing and awareness-building. The other two days will include strategic workshops with cultural heritage experts and field visits designed to foster cross-sectoral collaboration and contribute to finding shared solutions among professionals working in the fields of culture, education, media, the built environment, law enforcement, tourism, the environment, and other related fields.
Participants who successfully complete the module will be awarded a certificate recognizing them as members of the Abu Dhabi Network of Experts and Representatives in the Field of Cultural Heritage. These professionals will actively contribute to the specialized groups established for each thematic focus, supporting ongoing national and regional efforts to protect and promote cultural heritage both within and outside Abu Dhabi.
Mohammed Khalifa Al Mubarak:
• We believe that protecting our heritage is not the responsibility of a single entity or individual, but rather a shared mission that requires cooperation, knowledge sharing, and collective action.
