Rolling out with the iOS26 update, boarding passes stored in the Wallet app will soon have mapping, tracking and AirTag functionality automatically customised to your flight.
The key to the successful execution of an action-packed travel itinerary is organisation. While there’s an abundance of apps out there that can store your reservations, tickets, fares and accommodation in order, few address the pain points of air travel. Keeping track of departure times, gates, delays, luggage, carousels, upgrades, and other airport information usually requires multiple checks of the departure boards or navigating an airline’s clunky app. Apple seems to have solved the problem.

Following this week’s Apple Event, the tech giant confirmed it will release its latest iPhone software, iOS 26, the week starting Monday, 15 September 2025, and for frequent flyers, it could be a real game-changer. Among the headline features are Live Activities updates for airline apps and a refreshed Wallet experience designed to make navigating airports and
Travellers on airlines Qantas, Jetstar, Virgin Australia, Air Canada, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, JetBlue, Lufthansa Group, Southwest Airlines and United Airlines will soon be able to store boarding passes in Apple Wallet and enjoy real-time flight tracking without juggling multiple apps. Live Activities will display everything from departure updates and gate changes to baggage claim details, while also being shareable with family or friends who want to follow your journey.

The Wallet app itself has also been reimagined to do far more than just store a pass. Passengers can tap straight into Apple Maps directions for terminals, access AirTag tracking for luggage via Find My, and even view airline services such as seat upgrades or standby lists. The goal is a smoother, more consistent experience, no matter how modern your airline’s own app may (or may not) be.
