El Gouna Film Festival (GFF) is thrilled to announce a collaboration with Netflix to present a special screening of the highly anticipated feature narrative, Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein at its 8th edition, set to take place from October 16-24, 2025.
This exciting partnership marks a significant first for GFF, as it represents the festival’s premiere collaboration with one of the world’s leading entertainment services, for the official screening of a feature narrative film. This event underscores GFF’s commitment to bringing world-class, globally resonant cinema to its audiences in the MENA region.
Frankenstein, directed by Oscar-winning Guillermo del Toro, arrives at El Gouna straight from its world premiere at the Venice International Film Festival (Biennale), where it garnered exceptional critical acclaim and a prolonged standing ovation. Starring Oscar Isaac as Victor Frankenstein and Jacob Elordi as the Creature, del Toro’s gothic epic is a visually stunning reinterpretation of Mary Shelley’s classic novel.
GFF is also partnering with Netflix on a talent development initiative, with “Ever After: Developing a Series”, an exclusive three-day workshop designed for professional screenwriters, producers, and directors .El Gouna Film Festival is proud to forge this new path with Netflix; Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein is a perfect example of high-calibre, anticipated cinema, and securing its screening is a huge win for our audience.
