(AFTER EXTRA TIME, 2-2 ON AGGREGATE, OLYMPIAKOS WIN ON AWAY GOALS)

ARSENAL were dramatically knocked out of the Europa League on away goals as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang went from hero to zero.

Youssef El-Arabi sparked wild celebrations from Olympiakos’ players and fans when he stabbed home a wonderful cross from Giorgos Masouras to put his side 2-1 up on the night.

But that joy should have proved premature as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang — who thought he had won it for Arsenal seven minutes from the end of extra-time — missed an absolute sitter with the last kick of the tie, firing wide from eight yards.
Aubameyang’s miss was all the more remarkable given the magical overhead kick that looked to have saved the day after Gabriel Martinelli flicked on Mesut Ozil’s cross.

But in truth, Olympiakos were good value for their success overall, Pape Abou Cisse’s second-half header having cancelled out Arsenal’s advantage from the first leg to make it 1-1 on aggregate and force the extra 30 minutes.

Earlier Alexandre Lacazette, the scorer of last week’s winner in Greece, had turned home Bukayo Saka’s cross just before half-time, only for the youngster to be ruled offside.

Eight minutes after the restart the Gunners fell behind as Cisse powered a header into the net.

Konstantinos Tsimikas almost made it two with a curling effort but Bernd Leno was alert to tip it over the crossbar before extra-time turned into a Greek tragedy for the Gunners.
