Susan Sarandon and William H. Macy Wrap Filming on Indie Road Drama ‘Exit Right’

Production has officially wrapped in New Jersey on the highly anticipated independent drama Exit Right, bringing together an ensemble of Hollywood veterans. The film marks the narrative feature directorial debut of acclaimed documentary filmmaker Thomas A. Morgan. Grounded in a deeply moving human premise, the story follows a long-married couple who, upon facing a critical and terminal medical diagnosis, make the unconventional decision to sell their home. In an effort to transform their remaining time together into an unexpected adventure, they embark on an open road trip.

Susan Sarandon stars alongside William H. Macy and Marcia Cross, with a newly rounded-out supporting cast that includes Kim Coates, Amy Sedaris, Christopher Jackson, and Ethan Slater. In addition to portraying the lead female character, Sarandon serves as a producer on the project under her Silly Goose Productions banner.

The project caps off a remarkably prolific period for the Oscar-winning actress, whose recent slate spans diverse cinematic and documentary roles. Earlier this year, she served as an actress and executive producer for The Accompanist (2026), which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival. This follows her appearance in the 2025 Netflix comedy-drama Nonnas, where she played a character named Gia alongside Lorraine Bracco and Vince Vaughn. Her recent theatrical portfolio also includes the July 2024 comedy The Fabulous Four, a road-trip wedding feature co-starring Bette Midler, and a role in Tyler Perry’s late-2024 historical war drama The Six Triple Eight, which chronicled the only all-Black, all-female World War II postal battalion.
